Why Doris Day Songs from film Calamity Jane.

Ted was not a great music lover, however, he loved listening to Doris Day and in particular the song Secret Love which comes from the film Calamity Jane.

When I was a child, if Calamity Jane was shown on TV, we HAD to watch, despite the fact that dad had seen it countless times before, and when the 'Secret Love' scene came on we had to be quiet with a "Shhhhush shusssh", and dad would always comment, "That's proper singing", "not like that Beatles rubbish"!

This is was the mid sixties when TV was only black and white, no internet, no dvd's or TV on demand. As a kid I, at school the next day I had to explain to my friends that I'd missed, Jason and the Argonauts with the scary skeleton fight scene or the latest episode of Thunderbirds or something else that excited 10 to 13 year old boys because I had been forced to watch Calamity Jane with my dad.

Secretly then and even more today, I really enjoy watching Calamity Jane and I pretty much know every lyric from the song The Deadwood Stage! Thanks Dad!
