In 1959 Ted branched away from the family business of building (probably a case of too many cooks!), he started a Green-grocery round. He was getting up before dawn, traveling initially in his Thames Van  to buy fresh fruit and vegetables at 4am from various vendors in Borough Market, South London. Once back in Surrey, Ted went street to street in Warlingham Surrey selling his goods. This venture proved to be a success, soon the small Thames van was replaced by a Large green Lorry and then two successive converted coaches.
