During the1960's the pub game of darts at the Golden Lion in Caterham, gave way to Ted's passion for snooker.

With Ted working his green grocery round in Warlingham, he made friends with some local guys, this then lead to Ted joining the Warlingham British Legion, here he bacame proficient at snooker, although a high break could have been in the twenties! Never mind, no challenge to the then champion John Pulman, but Ted was presented with a (small egg cup size) trophy, as captain of his league team.
